Social Security Disability

Disability is often unexpected and the government makes it difficult for you to obtain benefits. The process can be extremely time consuming, very confusing and most cases are rejected. At the Muhammad Law Firm, we help you fill out your application, and if necessary, represent you during the appeals process.

The two types of Social Security disability claims are; Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

SSDI is an income replacement program that you contribute to while working. The benefits are granted to those who are unable to work due to mental or physical impairment. Benefits are based on the amount of money that the claimant has earned and contributed to social security.

SSI is a needs based program that pays benefits to those who cannot earn a living because of severe physical and/or mental disability and are paid based on financial needs.

The Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program is available to those who have worked a minimum of 5 out of the the last 10 years for an employer who has withheld social security taxes to get the required work credits. Claimants must be medically diagnosed by a doctor with a condition that has already lasted a year, or will last a year or potentially lead to death. This condition must prevent you from engaging in substantially gainful activity.  Even if you think you have a good case, there is a possibility that your application still may be turned down. You'll have a short time frame to appeal your case before it is closed. An experienced lawyer is beneficial in guiding you through the process.

The Muhammad Law Firm represents you on a contingency fee basis. We understand the financial strain that comes with disability. Living expenses in addition to medical expenses are overwhelming. When you become our client, attorney's fees are not paid until you get a favorable verdict. The attorney's fee is the same for every attorney who handles cases before the Social Security Administration.

Personal Injury

The Muhammad Law Firm handles the most serious car wrecks and truck accidents. We work overtime to make sure that our clients recover as much as possible with every case that we handle. Injury settlements require a combined effort between the accident victim and the victim's medical providers.

Our responsibility at The Muhammad Law Firm is to help accident victims make a full recovery from injuries and recover all financial compensation owed under the law.

Our first consultation is free. If The Muhammad Law Firm accepts your case, we work on a contingent fee basis and get compensated when we recover fees on your behalf. All lawsuits must be filed before the statute of limitations expires.

Attorney Muhammad has first-hand knowledge and experience with the immigration process. She understands the challenges families face when seeking legal status. The Muhammad Law Firm provides assistance in marriage-based petitions, U.S. Citizenship and Naturalization and I-601A waivers.

Marriage Based Immigration

The fastest way to gain lawful, permanent residency in the United States is through marriage. When you seek permanent residency through marriage, the government assumes that your marriage is fraud and it is the couple's responsibility to prove that the marriage is genuine. An experienced immigration attorney's representation is essential to the success of any marriage-based petition to prevent delay or denial. It is important for applicants to know that a marriage certificate to a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident does not guarantee that their immigration petition will be approved.

U.S. citizens also have the option to bring their foreign fiancé to the United States under K-1 nonimmigrant status, also known as the fiancé visa. The couple has 90 days from the U.S. entry date to marry.

U.S. Citizenship and Naturalization

Most foreign nationals living in the United States have the ultimate goal of becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen. The Muhammad Law Firm helps foreign nationals as efficiently as possible within the bounds of current immigration laws.

I-601A Waiver

Foreign nationals who are unlawfully residing in the United States can be banned from benefits that help you work and live in this country legally and permanently. Those who have an unlawful presence are allowed to apply for a waiver of inadmissibility provided that they meet the requirements. The Muhammad Law Firm is here to assist you in understanding immigration benefits, help you achieve your immigration goals and answer any other questions that you may have.

Estate Planning and Probate

Estate plans ensure that your family's needs and financial goals are met after death. An essential part of any estate plan is to have a will that leaves specific instructions on asset distribution and guardianship of any minor children when you pass away. Without a will, the state will determine the distribution of your assets and who has guardianship over your minor children.

A trust is the most efficient way to distribute generational assets immediately and bypassing the costly probate process. When you pass away, a designated trustee is appointed and disperses your assets as advised.

The Muhammad Law Firm advises families and individuals about wealth preservation as well as incapacity planning through powers of attorney and health care directives. We work hard to draft wills and trusts that are necessary to meet your generational goals.
